This week in the Modern Quilt Block Series we are sewing Activation – with a bold red fabric in the center of my block, I’m ready to start all kinds of projects!
Activation
Using two different prints to highlight the shapes makes this block dynamic, while still fairly simple to sew. Included in the instructions are pressing instructions that allow the blocks to be rotated and nest when made repeatedly for a quilt top. Adding these details to my patterns is always my goal!
If Half-Square Triangle units are new to you, I have all my tips and tricks included in this video, and walk you through each step. Don’t let those angles keep you from making this fun block.
I might just have to make the quilt with all the negative space – I love it! Do you have a favorite layout? Honestly, playing with the layout options is my favorite part of this process.
