This week in the Modern Quilt Block Series we are going to sew up a block I called Floating. There’s a square that seems to be afloat in the center, and triangles to set it off.

Floating

Pull out your large scale prints for this block! Those large triangles offer a great opportunity to showcase some favorite fabrics in a fun block. I sized up the triangles a little in the pattern, so there are no 1/8″ measurements to cut. I also explain exactly when and how to trim your block for a perfectly placed center square. Be sure to watch the video for all my tips!

What’s your favorite layout option? Leave me a comment and let me know.

This week the Floating block is free, next week it will be available for purchase in my shop.

    Hi Amy
I’m watching your You Tube on your Floating block and think its great. I am having trouble getting the Download Floating. I’ve clicked on the square and it is not connecting.
Please help what else can I do to get the pattern?
    Thank
    Terri

I love floating with cartwheel because of the elongated star that is created on the diagonal.
