This week in the Modern Quilt Block Series we are sewing up the Locus block. Using simple shapes in this block to create movement in a quilt top. Follow along as I continue designing and sharing a new block pattern each week!

The first steps in making this block include the half-square triangle units. This simple element adds a lot of great movement to the block and the layout options too! If you are looking for tips on making the half-square triangle units, check out this video. I walk you through each step of the process, with simple steps and a little practice the HST units come together quickly.

After that, making the block is a quick and fun process! Pull out your favorite color of fabric to get started.

In the video I walk you through the simple construction of this block. It is simple but effective!

This week the Locus block is free, next week it will be available for purchase in my shop.

Pin now, sew later

Save to your favorite quilting boards for inspiration when you need it!

I hope you have a creative week!

PS – thanks for being part of this creative process!
