Chain-piecing is one of my favorite time saving tips for sewing your quilts! There’s a few reasons why you might want to chain-piece your next quilt it –
- saves thread
- saves time
- keeps your pieces stay in the order you sew them
- and consistently sewing the same pieces is great practice for a nice 1/4″ seam allowance
You can chain-piece just about any block or quilt, however I suggest cutting an entire quilt, so that it’s ready to sew when you have a few minutes! In the video above, I’m sharing a few of my favorite tips to get you started and keep sewing on your projects.

I’ve committed myself to sharing weekly videos, starting with all the basics! I would love for you to pop over and leave a comment on the video, and subscribe to my channel while you are there. In your comment, let me know what you would like to see in a video tutorial.
Are you already a chain-piecer? I’d love for you to share the video with a friend that is new to quilting. Or on your Pinterest boards. As a more experienced quilter we can forget all the basics that we’ve learned along the way. It’s easy to gloss over them when speaking with a new quilter.
