This week in the Modern Quilt Block Series we are sewing up the Compound block. Exploring color with this simple block is a fun way to mix and match colors in quilt blocks. Follow along as I continue designing and sharing a new block pattern each week!
Compound
In it’s simplest form, adding white or black to the middle color will give you shades of transparency for this block. In the video, I’ve used a few different color ideas to give you a glimpse at how you might incorporate different groups of colors. When playing with color this way, it’s helpful to start with a simple gradient, and then moving to mixing colors.
This block is fun to make, and the layout options make me excited to sew more. I hope you enjoy the video while you are here and block pattern in your studio space.
This week the Compound block is free, next week it will be available for purchase in my shop.
Pin now, sew later
Save to your favorite quilting boards for inspiration when you need it!
I hope you have a creative week!
