This week in the Modern Quilt Block Series we are sewing up the Cushion block. These rectangles and triangles create dimension in quilt tops, without too much difficulty! Follow along as I continue designing and sharing a new block pattern each week!

I’ll show you how to guard that bias as you sew this block up and enjoy the stunning results. Before you begin sewing, be sure to check your 1/4″ seam allowance. To simplify this block, the pieces are slightly oversized so we can trim everything square later.

In the video I walk you through cutting the needed triangles, and then trimming the block square. My included tips will help you to have great results – and can be applied to lots of quilting projects. As you continue to grow your quilting skills, sewing more detailed blocks keeps it interesting. But it doesn’t have to be hard – enjoy!

This week the Cushion block is free, next week it will be available for purchase in my shop.

Pin now, sew later

Save to your favorite quilting boards for inspiration when you need it!

I hope you have a creative week!
