This week in the Modern Quilt Block Series we are sewing up the Essence block. These simple elements make up the basis of many quilting patterns. Follow along as I continue designing and sharing a new block pattern each week, and offer tools to design your own quilts with these coordinating blocks.
Essence
The simple elements included in the block are foundational and fun! Which makes this a great block for anyone, even the beginner. Simple patchwork is always a winner in my book. A big bonus — the simplicity of this block lends itself to a great scrappy outcome too! Scrappy quilts always make me smile – they seem to have the most movement and energy to them.
I hope you take a couple of minutes to watch the video for my construction tips, and favorite tools. Also, I share pressing tips for a single block layout. I always love putting the different layout ideas together, and I’m looking forward to sewing a couple of quilt tops next year too.
